
I used to get this dish as take out in a Chinese small dinner in Kinston North Carolina and loved it – Now over twenty years later i found it online and of course i had to try it out … Crispy Sesame Chicken … it was easy to make and i just loved it.

I adjusted it to my taste
Sesame Chicken Sauce Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon corn starch
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (white)
Place all ingredients in a bowl mix well and chill in the refrigerator. Bevor using it stir thoroughly.
Tempura Batter:
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 egg whites
- 1/2 cup cold seltzer water
Mix all items to make a smooth batter
Chicken: 1st Step
- 1 lb chicken breast skinless cut into bite-size chunks
- vegetable oil for deep frying
- Add the chicken pieces to the batter and coat well
- in a large skillet heat 3 inches of oil to 350 degrees and then add the chicken you may have to fry chicken in batches – fry until golden brown. remove from oil place to the side till you have finished frying all the chicken.
Chicken: 2nd Step
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- In a large wok or skillet add the sesame oil and add the garlic and red pepper flakes and fry for 30 sec
- Then add the fried chicken pieces stir fry for about 1 minute on high heat – reduce heat and add in the prepared sesame chicken sauce coat the chicken quickly and cook till the sauce starts to get thick and sticky careful that it does not burn — serve immediately, garnish with extra sesame seeds – best served with basmati rice
