Pikante Bratäpfel (savory baked apples)

A favorite Side dish during the cold season of the year – a classic dish during pre Christmas season or for the Family Christmas dinner

Ingriedents:

8 small apples
soft butter for the casserole dish
2 slices White bread finely diced
1 & 1/4 cup finely diced Gorgonzola cheese or any other blue cheese
1 cup finely diced cooked ham
1/2 cup Sour cream or creme fraiche
salt & pepper from the grinder to your liking
2 Tablespoons butter
freshly chopped parsley for sprinkling

Preheat Oven to 350 F
Wash the apples, cut off a lid, cut out the core and hollow the apple out, throw the core away but keep apple fruit flesh and cut it into small pieces place in a bowl. Cut the apples flat on the bottom for a better stand and place it in a buttered baking dish.

Debark the white bread and cut it into small cubes. Cut Ham & Gorgonzola cheese into small pieces, place them into the bowl holding the apple pieces add sour cream or creme fraiche Season add a bit of salt and pepper then mix all ingredients well. Once done fill the hollowed apples with mixture put the lids of apples on top of filled apples, then cover the top of apples with small pieces of butter, salt, pepper again to your liking, and bake in the oven for about 35 minutes until golden brown. Sprinkle parsley over apples and serve.
